Mobile Push & Riding Mower Tune-Ups by Turf Geeks

As cold weather settles into Kansas City, your mower deserves the same care you give your lawn. Winterizing your push mower or riding mower helps protect the engine, prevent spring start-up problems, and extend the life of your equipment.

At Turf Geeks Lawn Care, we make it easy. Our mobile mower winterization service means we come to your house — no hauling, no waiting, no hassle.

$99 for push mowers

$225 for riding mowers

We’re not mechanics, but we know what your mower needs to stay healthy through the off-season.

🌿 Why Winterize Your Lawn Mower?

If you store your mower without prepping it, you risk:

  • Fuel system clogs from old gas

  • Rust and corrosion in the carburetor or fuel tank

  • Dead batteries in riding mowers

  • Dull blades and uneven cutting come spring

Proper winterization ensures your mower starts clean and strong once the growing season returns.

✅ Step 1: Clean It Up

Before storage, give your mower a deep clean:

  • Remove grass buildup under the deck

  • Blow off dirt, dust, and debris

  • Wipe the surface dry to prevent rust

A clean mower stores better — and you’ll be ready to roll next spring without a sticky mess.

✅ Step 2: Drain or Stabilize the Fuel

Old gasoline breaks down quickly.

  • Push mowers: Run the mower dry or use a fuel stabilizer.

  • Riding mowers: Fill the tank, add stabilizer, and let it run for a few minutes.

This keeps the carburetor from gumming up and helps your engine fire right up in the spring.

✅ Step 3: Protect the Engine & Battery

Your mower needs one last bit of love:

  • Change or top off the oil

  • Replace spark plug and clean the air filter

  • Sharpen the blade

  • Disconnect or trickle-charge the battery (for riders)

Turf Geeks takes care of all of this during our mobile visit — we come to you, handle the details, and leave your mower ready for next season.

🧭 When to Winterize

The best time to winterize is right after your last mow of the season, usually late November to mid-December in Kansas City.If you’ve just finished your winterizer fertilizer application, that’s the perfect time to schedule your mower service too.
