Meet Jason Clarkson – The Heart Behind Turf Geeks
Hi, I’m Jason Clarkson, the proud owner of Turf Geeks, and I’ve been obsessed with turfgrass since I was 14 years old. My journey started back in high school when I landed my first job at a local golf course. I instantly fell in love with turfgrass, even though my parents thought I was crazy.
In high school, I worked on golf courses and athletic fields, and when I tried out for the football team, my coach sat me down and said,
"JC, you're not meant to play football—you’re meant to take care of our turf."
Boy, was he right! From that moment on, I knew turfgrass was my calling.
After high school, I moved to Kansas City to pursue my passion further at Longview Community College, earning a degree in Turfgrass Management. I worked my way up in golf course management, landing positions at some of the most prestigious courses, including:
Irrigation Technician-Longview Lake Golf Course, Kansas City, MO
Assistant Superintendent – The Club at Porto Cima, Lake of the Ozarks
Superintendent – Lebanon Country Club, Lebanon, MO
Superintendent – The Lodge of Four Seasons, Lake of the Ozarks
Through these experiences, I learned from the best, including my mentor Paul Naudet, and honed my skills in turfgrass management.

After 12 years in the lawn care business, working for another company, I realized it was time to start my own journey. With the support of my amazing wife Megan and my stepson Easton, I created Turf Geeks, built on three core values:

Meet Max Our Turf Geek
I’ve spent over the last decade working in the golf course industry, and for me, it’s more than just a job — it’s something I genuinely care about. I’ve worked my way up from the ground level and spent the last several years as an Irrigation Technician and 2nd Assistant Superintendent. I enjoy the early mornings, the rhythm of the work, and the satisfaction that comes from helping keep a course running smoothly and looking its best. I take a lot of pride in doing the little things right and being someone my team can count on when it matters.
I recently moved from Columbia, Missouri, where I started my career and built a strong foundation in turf care and irrigation. The move has been a big change, but a good one — my wife and I now have two little girls under two, and we wanted to plant roots somewhere that gave our family space to grow. Life’s definitely busy right now, but in the best way.
When I’m not working, I’m usually outdoors. I’ve always felt most at peace in nature, whether I’m hunting, fishing, camping, or just sitting quietly with a cup of coffee before the sun comes up. That love for the outdoors is a big part of why I’ve stayed in this industry — there’s something special about working outside and seeing the results of your efforts in real time.
At the end of the day, I’m a family man who believes in showing up, working hard, and taking pride in what I do. I’m always looking to grow, learn from those around me, and bring a strong, steady presence to whatever team I’m part of.
